Short version: Go Shortcuts collects no personal information and runs no analytics or tracking. Your shortcuts live only in Chrome’s built-in storage. The only data that ever leaves your device is your license key, sent to LemonSqueezy if you choose to activate Pro — and the destination URL itself when a shortcut fires, the same as typing that URL into your address bar.

Who we are

Go Shortcuts is a Chrome extension (free, with an optional one-time Pro upgrade) built and maintained by an independent developer. The extension is available on the Chrome Web Store and its website is at gotoshortcut.com.

What data we collect

Go Shortcuts does not collect, sell, or share any personal data, and runs no analytics or advertising trackers of any kind. The extension does make a small number of network requests, described below — all of them exist to make a feature work, not to collect information about you.

What is stored and where

Your shortcuts, aliases, categories, usage counts, and Pro features (sequences, schedules, pinned shortcuts) are stored exclusively inside Chrome using the chrome.storage API, which keeps it either:

  • Local storage — on your device only, never leaves your machine.
  • Sync storage — synced via your Google account to other Chrome devices you’re signed in to, using Chrome’s own encrypted sync infrastructure. This data goes through Google’s servers as part of Chrome Sync, governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

You choose which storage mode to use. The extension does not have access to which Google account you use or any other Chrome Sync data.

Usage statistics

The extension tracks how many times each shortcut is used, and (Pro) a history of recent activations for the analytics dashboard. This data is stored locally in Chrome storage on your device. It is never transmitted anywhere. You can reset or delete it at any time from the options page.

Permissions

Go Shortcuts requests the following Chrome permissions, each used for exactly one purpose:

  • storage — to save and read your shortcuts.
  • tabs — to navigate to a URL when you trigger a shortcut, and to open multiple tabs for a Pro multi-step sequence.
  • tabGroups (Pro) — to name and organize the Chrome tab group created by the “Launch Group” feature, which opens every shortcut in a category as tabs grouped together.
  • alarms (Pro) — to run a background check, once every 24 hours, that verifies your saved shortcut URLs still resolve (the URL health monitor).

No other permissions are requested or used.

Third-party services

Go Shortcuts integrates with two third-party services, both opt-in:

  • LemonSqueezy — our payment processor and license system for the Pro upgrade. Purchases happen entirely on LemonSqueezy’s own checkout page; the extension never sees your payment details. When you activate, deactivate, or the extension periodically re-validates a Pro license, your license key (and an anonymous device instance ID) is sent to LemonSqueezy’s API to confirm it’s valid. See LemonSqueezy’s Privacy Policy.
  • Google’s favicon service — to show a small icon next to each shortcut in the options page, the extension requests a favicon for the domain of that shortcut’s URL from google.com/s2/favicons. Only the domain is sent, never the full URL or any data about you.

Separately, when you use a shortcut, the extension navigates your browser to that URL — the same as if you’d typed it into the address bar yourself. Pro’s optional URL health monitor and the “Validate URLs” button work the same way: they check that your own saved shortcut URLs still respond, without reading or storing anything about their content.

The marketing website (gotoshortcut.com) may use standard web hosting that logs HTTP requests (IP address, browser, page visited), as is standard for any website. No advertising or behavioral tracking tools are used on the website or in the extension.

Children’s privacy

Go Shortcuts does not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and does not collect personal information from anyone of any age. Purchasing Pro requires a LemonSqueezy checkout, which has its own age-related terms.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated date at the top of this page will change and a note will appear in the changelog. Continued use of the extension after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
